Little did Richardson resident and difference-maker Scott Rhoades know that a simple act of kindness during a winter storm in his community would start a Help Your Neighbor movement. In 2014, Scott led the first Help Your Neighbor Day through the Richardson Heights Neighborhood Association and local business sponsors. Join us May 26 to plants seeds of creative collaboration and hear Scott tell us how we can join in and keep the servanthood going.
Help Your Neighbor is an event to help those in need in our neighborhoods. We do this by recruiting people within the community, typically neighbors, to help with small projects on houses of those in need. More importantly, we hope that relationships are made between the homeowner and those who are serving. Help Your Neighbor is a great way to influence your community and help those in need.
Scott Rhoades lives in Richardson and is on the board of the Richardson Heights Neighborhood Association. For his day job, he serves as the Director of Edification and Philanthropy for Edify, a non-profit organization dedicated to making quality, Christ-centered education available in third-world countries. Prior to Edify, Scott served on Young Life staff in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area for twelve years in various roles from area director to development director. He helped spearhead the growth of various ministries, specifically Latino and special needs ministries in the DFW area.
Scott attended Oklahoma University and graduated with a BA in MIS and Finance. He also graduated from Westminster Seminary in 2010 with a Masters of Arts and Religion with a focus on biblical studies. Scott is married to Kiley and they have two daughters, Emilie Kate and Olivia.
