A Life In The Balance: The Flavor of Living
Meet Sandra Lewis. As chef, speaker and the owner of Life at the Table, she’ll share her journey and talk about how satisfaction in life is not a “balanced” life. Instead it is a life creating, not consuming, and a life that incorporates into one single stream what we have traditionally thought of as “personal” life and “work” life.
When: 6 – 7:30 p.m., Thurs., Oct. 29, 2015
Where: Isabelly’s , 200 E. Main St. Richardson, TX 75081
Lite bites and wine will be served. We’ll mix and mingle from 6-6:30. Sandra will begin at 6:30 p.m.
About Sandra Lewis
Chef Sandra Lewis is a storyteller, collaborator and evangelist for what she believes is the secret to living a satisfying life both at home and work, spending time at the table.
Through her work at Life At The Table, Sandra combines her 20+ year career in human resources development, sales and non-profit with her culinary expertise and belief in the power of the table experience to speak, inspire and lead organizations and families in the joys of creating cultures of community and collaboration.
As a single mom throughout her career, Sandra’s solution to the challenge of creating a sense of family with her two daughters while juggling the demands of work was to gather nightly for family meals.
It was through this personal experience that she developed her belief that gathering, connecting and identifying with something bigger than yourself is an essential ingredient to the thriving of the human spirit at work and home.
In 2009 Sandra had what she describes as a “now or never” moment. She decided in favor of the “now,” sold her house, tucked all of her belongings into storage, rented a room from a friend and attended culinary school.
Fifteen months later she graduated with honors and gave the student commencement speech at graduation.
Sandra earned a BS in Mass Communications, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Utah and an AAS with Honors in Culinary Arts from Le Cordon Bleu Dallas.
When she isn’t speaking or teaching, you can find her experimenting in her kitchen, spending time at the table, and exploring the flavors and tastes of the local food scene, gardening and writing on her blog, Living Life At The Table.
